Dr Georgina Konrat graduated from the University of Sydney in 1996 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. After completing her basic general surgical training, she honed her skills as a remote and rural doctor, managing a wide range of surgical cases in resource-limited settings.
An unexpected opportunity early in her career led her to step into the role of obstetrics and gynaecology registrar at a remote hospital. Working closely under the mentorship of her consultant, she developed significant experience in managing birth-related injuries and repairing episiotomy wounds. This in-depth, hands-on exposure to the intricacies of female anatomy and tissue healing laid a strong foundation for developing the DOVE Surgical Technique for labiaplasty — an approach designed to support tissue preservation while addressing functional concerns and personal aesthetic choice.
Dr Konrat went on to complete advanced surgical training in Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine with the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine (ACCSM), graduating in 2007. Her unique experience of general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, and cosmetic surgery training shaped her distinctive approach to surgery, particularly in intimate female procedures.
In the early years of cosmetic surgery practice, Dr Konrat was approached by many women seeking help for enlarged uncomfortable labia. These patients often shared personal stories of discomfort, difficulty with daily activities and intimacy, recurrent infection, and emotional distress due to labial hypertrophy. Drawing on her experience from obstetric surgery, Dr Konrat developed the DOVE Surgical Technique for labiaplasty — focused on protecting the normal function of the genitalia without injury to any important nerves, while also addressing appearance.
She performs these procedures at her Sydney clinic, with a focus on informed consent, anatomical preservation, and long-term outcomes.
She continues to undergo professional development in cosmetic surgery each year, attending and presenting at national and international conferences and participating in live surgery workshops. In addition to her clinical work, Dr Konrat serves as a registered surgical preceptor, training and supervising doctors who are pursuing their fellowship in cosmetic surgery.
Dr Konrat works with accredited day-hospital settings relevant to her current scope of practice. Her cosmetic surgery practice includes breast surgery, body procedures, upper eyelid blepharoplasty, and otoplasty.
Dr Konrat employs an empathetic and holistic approach to patient care. She takes the time to understand each patient's goals and concerns, providing care that is not only technically skilled but also grounded in compassion.
