Recovery Guides

Resources
& Guides

Recovery guides and what-to-expect articles to support informed consultation, preparation, and follow-up care.

This page collects the educational material used across Dr Georgina Konrat's consultations with patients in Sydney and Brisbane. The articles are written by the practice and reviewed by Dr Konrat (MBBS, FACCSM) so that the same standard of information used during consultations is available to prospective patients before they commit to booking. Every article is plain English, Australia-specific, and focused on what the decision process actually looks like from consultation through to post-operative review.

Cosmetic surgery decisions involve more reading than most patients expect, and AHPRA's 2023 reforms formalised this by requiring a GP referral, two separate consultations with the doctor performing the procedure, and a documented seven-day cooling-off period before any booking can be confirmed. That is a reasonable framework but it also means patients benefit from arriving at the first consultation already familiar with the procedure they are considering, the risks that apply, the realistic recovery timeline, and the fee structure. The resources below are organised to support that preparation.

How to use this page

Start with the recovery guide for the specific procedure you are considering. Recovery is the part of cosmetic surgery that most affects daily life and work planning, and the guides describe realistic milestones rather than idealised scenarios. Follow that with the cost article for the same procedure — fees vary by theatre time, implant or device choice, and whether a Medicare item number applies to your individual case, and the cost articles explain how that is worked out rather than quoting a single figure. If you are earlier in the process and deciding between two options (for example upper versus lower blepharoplasty, or labiaplasty versus clitoral hood reduction), the comparison articles set out the practical differences without making a recommendation that can only be made at consultation.

What the articles will not do

These articles do not replace a consultation and do not amount to medical advice. AHPRA rules do not permit testimonials or before-and-after images in advertising for cosmetic procedures, and the articles do not include either. They also do not promise outcomes or guarantee recovery timelines — every patient heals at their own pace, and every case involves a personal discussion of risks, alternatives, and suitability during consultation. If an article raises questions that are not answered inside it, the most useful thing to do is to bring the question to your first consultation and have the answer recorded in your notes.

If you cannot find what you need

New articles are added to this page as procedures are reviewed and as recurring consultation questions emerge. If you would like a specific topic covered, or you are looking for a topic that does not yet appear below, the contact page is the preferred route to flag it. The practice also maintains a dedicated blog with more in-depth articles, including comparisons, statistics, and AHPRA-related explainers.

Next Step

Ready to Book a Consultation?

The first step is a confidential consultation where Dr Konrat will discuss your concerns, explain the procedure in detail, and answer any questions you may have.

A GP referral is required for surgical procedures. Please note the mandatory 7-day cooling off period applies to all cosmetic surgery consultations.
